Named in honour of Panagis Vallianos, a generous benefactor of Kefalonia, the large flat square has recently been refurbished providing an excellent location for relaxing and watching the world go by.
A statue of the Kefalonian Panagis Vallianos, who is said the be the father of modern Greek shipping, stands proudly in the square. Take a seat at one of the benches, or at one of the many cafes, bars and restaurants surrounding the square and while away some time. It’s ideal for children to run around. Just above the square, there is a playground with free exercise machines. The Napier little park is a little further up too.
Public events, seasonal markets and the carnival take place in the square.
