My Greek Odyssey with Peter Maneas is an Australian 13-part television series that takes viewers to some of the most spectacular and unique islands in Greece where he travels on his super-yacht Mia Zoi (One Life).
Peter is a successful businessman born and raised in the Sydney suburb of Bondi Junction to Greek migrants that settled in Australia over 50 years ago with nothing but their suitcases. Peter ,an overabundant, was taught by his mother the importance of following his passion. Following many years of hard work and studying he started a construction business that 20 years later has blossomed into a team of 2,000 people.
Peter’s philosophy is ‘We only live once, so get the most out of your life, no matter what!’ His passion for adventure and excitement is matched by the desire he has to share his experiences with others, from family and friends, to the viewing audience.
“Being of Greek heritage myself, I just love Greece so much,” he said. “I’ve been travelling there since I was 10 years old. I spent six months living there when I was a child and it changed my life. Over the years, whenever my wife and I visited, she’d take little videos of me where I’d describe the sights. That gave me the idea to put together a show where I could share all these amazing places that I love to visit with other people.”
It was at the end of the season in 2017 when Peter and his crew visited our island and created one of the episodes (No 10) all about Kefalonia. I had the honour and great pleasure to be their facilitator during their 5 day stay after being contacted by Fotini Pimpa, their representative in Greece through my neighbour Makis Papadatos.
The show aims to promote the beautiful and sometime hidden gems of Kefalonia through interaction with local people, and I was able to facilitate a great itinerary encompassing as much as possible the uniqueness and authenticity of our island.
The experience of working alongside an enthusiastic TV host and Alex Begetis, director/production manager and camera man was truly special and I thoroughly enjoyed revealing our island to them.
My Greek Odyssey was launched in Australia on Sunday March 24th at 1:30pm on Channel 7. Kefalonia will be presented in Episode No10.

I’m not Greek Peter, but I watched the Greek Odyssey for the first time & how I wished I’d been there, it’s absolutely beautiful , I know the only reason why people left was because of money, but I could live there it’s so serene, I really enjoyed watching the beauty & history of Greece. I hope one day soon I’ll get to visit & yes I do remember Telly Savalos & yes again you do resemble him ha!! Regards Marianne. Ps hope to remember to watch the next episode , I’ll remember to tell a Greek Aussie girlfriend she must watch .
