Platia Ammos is one of the most impressive beaches on the Paliki Peninsula and in all of Kefalonia, located a little after Kipouria Monastery, 12km from Lixouri.
It is considered as one of the island’s most isolated spots, as not even mobile phones have reception there, the landscape is quite similar to this of Myrtos and Petani but far more unspoilt and peaceful.
Until the earthquake of 2014 you could access the beach by an adventurous staircase of 300 stairs, which is now damaged.
Now it is only accessible by boat, you can rent a boat from Vatsa bay or Agia Kyriaki but you need to make sure it is a calm day as this part of the island is very often windy and wavy. For sure this beach is worth visiting as its beauty and waters are unique and the surrounding huge cliffs create a fascinating backdrop.
Do not miss it!
