This is not a breathtaking beach, it is a return to our childhood memories…
Approx 12 km north of Agia Efimia, take the road that leads to Fiskardo, and after passing the isolated but proud village of Komitata you will find a sign that takes you down to Agia Sophia and Horgota beaches. the road is long and winding but the views of Ithaka will compensate you!
Here you can find serenity even in the busy days of August. Stroll along the coast to observe the old houses and the remains of times past. This place is a combination of a natural landscape with olive trees almost touching the sea and a lot of “paradox” human interventions giving a unique atmosphere of “anarchic” beauty.
Lay under the shade of the huge fig tree, enjoy great snorkelling and diving for hours, find shelter with your boat or yacht and relax. Another great beach “Horgota” is just few km on the way back to the village of Komitata.
The beach is not organised but (in high season) there is a small taverna here where you can find a basic menu or just enjoy a coffee. Parking space is limited but I have never found difficulty in finding a space yet. Facing the sunrise, both beaches get some shade in early afternoon, so if you want to enjoy the sun you need to come here early.
